<description>Las Piñas City, Philippines. Around 11 p.m. the water rises, and the power goes out. No outside help can get through. Neighbors hear a family shouting from inside their home, trapped. One neighbor lets a group dismantle part of his own wall to make a safer, more direct way in. No rope. No specialized rescue equipment. The neighbors reach the family and rescue them. Community is the first line of defense. From the "Mutual Aid Disaster Relief Search and Rescue" workshop at the 2026 International Workshops. A Radical Guide is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that builds movement infrastructure, including a global directory of radical spaces, mutual aid programs, and educational resources for people doing liberation work around the world.
